Svenkst Tenn: A Philosophy of Home
Liljevalchs, Stockholm
27 September 2024 - 12 January 2025

Curated by Jane Withers together with Svenkst Tenn’s Head Curator Karin Södergren, the landmark exhibition Svenkst Tenn: A Philosophy of Home celebrates the centenary of this iconic design brand, illuminating the groundbreaking work of founder Estrid Ericson and her long-term collaborator architect and designer Josef Frank, as well as Svenskt Tenn’s rich history of design and craftsmanship.

At the heart of Svenskt Tenn today is a profoundly human vision of the home. Jane comments that this ‘is an extraordinary opportunity to revisit the progressive design philosophy of Svenskt Tenn and illuminate their unique vision of the modern home as a place of both physical and psychological comfort and explore what makes it so enduring and relevant today.’

Drawing on Svenkst Tenn’s own rarely seen archive alongside loans from international museums and private collections, the exhibition revisits iconic Svenskt Tenn interiors as well as showing the design and production for pewter wares, furniture, lighting, textiles and tableware for which Svenkst Tenn has become renowned.
