The Brompton Cocktail, 2016

In the 10 years since its inception, the Brompton Design District has hosted pioneering contemporary exhibitions by some of the world’s most exciting and free-thinking designers. As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations, we invited Brompton’s alumni of designers including Tom Dixon, Faye Toogood and Max Lamb to design a cocktail – either conceptual or real – inspired by the original Brompton Cocktail, an elixir administered to dying patients at the Royal Brompton Hospital from the 1920s–70s. Together with an installation designed by Arabeschi di Latte, the results were documented in a publication designed by RCA alumni studio P2P, drawing on the spirit of avant-garde publications such as Filippo Marinetti’s 1932 Futurist Cookbook.
